After 6 years of trying to have a baby, I found out I was pregnant with Zach in March,1994. During my pregnancy I had at least 5 ultrasounds and none of them showed any problems with the baby. When Zach was born, he had a cleft lip and hypospadius. We were told to see a geneticist, and he told us Zachary had Opitz-G Syndrome (midline defects). Since then, Zach has had several more birth defect's discovered, that are all in the midline. Zach has also had seven surgeries, and has several more surgeries planned in the future. Despite a rocky start, Zach is doing better now. He went to a special preshcool for developmentally delayed children. He is now in third grade, in a regular education class, and doing quite well. He is in resource only to learn better fine motor skills, as this is one area where he still needs additional help. We are extremely proud of Zach, he is reading at a seventh grade level, is a Math Master, rides a bike, plays video games, does chores, and anything he wants!
From such a rocky start to now was not the easiest road, but the older he gets, the better he does!

Sweet Zach last Christmas!
